ABOUT
GuideWell Chat is GuideWell's on-prem generative AI application. Along with a handful of other UX Designers, I was recruited to improve the user experience and refresh the interface of the existing application.*
Problem and approach
The original application wasn't being used as much as the developers had hoped. While this was in part due to insufficient awareness at the time, they also suspected the design was a potential culprit for lack of user motivation.
With a tight deadline, I decided to put more focus on optimizing the desktop experience in this context. As employees, the vast majority of users would be using it while at their desks and for work purposes — rarely if ever using it on the go.
I also decided to follow a similar footprint of the original architecture due to development limitations, but made some modifications. Because so many employees were still unfamiliar with generative AI tools, I added a resource-packed side panel feature which includes a responsive "pin" in case a user wants to keep it open without obscuring the chat pane.

Aside from the GuideWell Chat logo, all elements were created by me including the onboarding screen illustrations, messaging, and tool tip verbiage. My illustrations were crafted 100% from scratch and without the use of AI.
While these are WIPs, feel free to check out the desktop prototype and mobile prototype.
(And speaking of WIPs, this page is also under construction. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!)
*Please note, I am an in-house designer working with the pre-established brands of EverBank, TIAA, GuideWell, The Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Title IX Campaign.
